Performer drum sets are designed for young drummers looking for a basic equipment but who insist on having Sonor Quality made in Germany. Performer drum sets have all the components that make up for a professional outfit. With Performer even the beginner has a reliable and complete equipment.

Note: I had a kit much like that pictured to the left. This "entry level" kit is better made than most other's mid-high line offerings.
The Performer series is vitrually identical to the Phonic series with these few exceptions:

Shells are 6-ply 7mm thick beech for toms, and 9-ply 10mm thick for bass drum.
The plastic covering is of a thinner grade than that used on Phonic/Phonic Plus.
The hardware on the drums is identical to the Phonic Plus of 1983.
Stands appear to be Phonic with a slightly different leg design and cheaper wing nuts.

Are these kits worthy of Sonor fanaticism? That depends. At a time when other companies (including Sonor - see Sonor International) were buying Taiwanese shells and having Southeast Asian slave labor hang Pearl hardware on them, these were being made IN GERMANY in the Aue/Westphalia factory side by side with Signatures, Sonorlites, and Phonics and of the same materials.
